Home ›Kee baseball team comes up a bit shy in battles with UIC front-runners MFL/MarMac and South Winn, shuts out Clayton Ridge-Central at home
The Kee baseball team ended up playing five games this past week, having two games against Sumner-Fredericksburg and Don Bosco slated to be played at the South Winneshiek Tournament canceled due to rainy weather this past Saturday, June 22. Prior to that cancellation, the Hawks had a pair of Upper Iowa Conference road doubleheaders get away on back-to-back nights, including losses of 6-0 and 3-2 at MFL/MarMac Monday, June 17 and 5-2 and 3-1 at UIC-leading South Winneshiek Tuesday, June 18. Kee’s diamond dwellers bounced back for their lone win of the week, a 5-0 home victory over Clayton Ridge-Central Thursday, June 20. Due to unforeseen circumstances, details of those games with South Winneshiek and Clayton Ridge-Central will be printed in the July 3 edition of The Standard.
Now holding an 18-9 season record that includes a 10-5 mark in Upper Iowa Conference (UIC) play, the Hawks were next scheduled to host North Fayette Valley Monday, June 24 before playing Waterloo Columbus Wednesday, June 26 at Riverfront Stadium, the home of the Waterloo Bucks. They will then play at Turkey Valley Monday, July 1 and host Riceville Tuesday, July 2 in a make-up game from May 16 and Janesville Wednesday, July 3 before opening Class 1A District Tournament play Saturday, July 6 at home against Edgewood-Colesburg.
