The Veterans Memorial Hospital (VMH) Postville  Medical Clinic is celebrating its two-year anniversary. The new clinic opened July 5, 2022, replacing the Postville Medical Clinic previously owned and operated by Dr. Thomas McMullan. The new clinic began with Michelle Crary, Nurse Practitioner, providing patient care full-time in the clinic with Dr. McMullan remaining on, two days per week.

Crary continues to provide care in the Postville Clinic a few days a week, along with Minji Na, a new Nurse Practitioner who has also joined the Postville Clinic team. Both of these providers also care for patients at the hospital’s Waukon Clinic as well.

In addition, Katy Maker, Nurse Midwife and Nurse Practitioner, visits the Postville Clinic once per week, each Friday, to meet with expectant moms, and delivering their babies at VMH when the time comes. She also sees patients as a nurse practitioner for all family practice cares.

Tara Fink, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, also visits the Postville Clinic to help meet the great need for mental health care in northeast Iowa, providing consultations and medication management for all mental health illnesses.  Patients can self-refer to see Tara Fink by calling the Postville Clinic at 563-864-7221.  Crary, Na, Maker, and Fink all have office hours at the VMH-Waukon Clinic as well.

“We have truly filled a void in the Postville community with the opening of this clinic,” states Laura Baxter, Clinic Director of both the Postville and Waukon Clinics. “We are available for walk-ins each day, which is a large part of our business so we are thankful we are here for them. All of our providers continue to accept new patients. Our entire staff, including Teresa Berg, our Receptionist and Stacy Miller, our RN, are a very solid team offering exceptional care to our patients and community.”

These Postville Clinic staff serve all immediate health concerns such as flu, COVID, sore throat, earache, and blood pressure issues; provide disease management such a diabetes, hypertension and digestive issues and offer annual wellness including well child visits from two days to 18 years, women’s health, medical annual wellness exams and sports physicals.

“Without the accessibility of this new clinic and our wonderful providers and staff, I don’t know where those numerous patients we have served the last two years would have gone to get the care they needed,” adds Baxter.  “We are happy to be here for people when they need us.”

The VMH-Postville Clinic is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., remaining open over the noon lunch hour. The clinic then does close from 1-2 p.m. each afternoon.
