Letter to the Editor: Submitted by Rev. Cathy Jurgens, Rev. Dr. Grant VanderVelden and Rev. Kim Gates

To the Editor:

I hope by now you’ve heard of Corner of Hope and the great things they are doing in this county to raise money to assist with agriculture needs in other parts of the world. The Standard has done a great job of educating all of us about the great work they and their parent organization, Growing Hope Globally, have done.

You may have even heard about the annual summer celebration Growing Hope Globally is having here this weekend. But what you may not have heard is that the local churches didn’t stop there.

Sunday, August 4, Zion United Church of Christ will be joining with First Presbyterian Church and St. Paul’s United Methodist Church for an ecumenical worship service at 9 a.m. at Zion United Church of Christ. For those who will not be able to attend the Growing Hope Globally celebration this Friday night or Saturday, this will be a great way to hear more about this organization during the sermon time. For those who did attend one of those prior events, this will give them a time to hear about some of the work being done in Central and South America.

Of course, this isn’t just for our three churches. If you want to come celebrate this wonderful organization, or even learn about the program for the first time, we would love to have you join us. Communion will be received that morning and is open to all. You will also have a chance to give to the local Corner of Hope chapter if you choose to do so.
