Allamakee Soil & Water Conservation Office Hosts Conservation Education Day for Area 6th graders
The Allamakee Soil & Water Conservation District hosted a Conservation Education Day for the County 6th graders April 30. Students were able to rotate through different stations learning about different types of conservation. A big thank you to all who donate to make this event happen and all of the volunteers who helped out with the day!
Stations Included:
1. Kayaking - Erin Cubban - County Conservation, helpers Dean Peterson District Commissioner & Ben Kuennen Wetland Specialist
2. Watersheds - Sara Berges - NRCS Soil Conservationists and William Kopp District Project Coordinator
3. Tree Planting - Dave Asche Forester
4. Native Plants - Janet Borchardt - Pheasants Forever Biologist
5. Soil Health - Alisha Sedlmayr - Soil Health specialist - NRCS helper Michelle Elliott - NRCS Resource Conservationist
6. Native Animals - Melissa Hermsen - Allamakee County Conservation Assistant Naturalist
