Coila Huffman of Oelwein, originally of Waterville, will turn 90 years of age June 17. A celebration of the occasion will be held Saturday, June 20 from 1- 4 p.m. at her home, 221 Third Avenue SE, Oelwein, IA 50662. Those unable to attend the celebration may send well wishes to the above address.

Paul and Lindsey Deason of Harpers Ferry announce the birth of their son, Mitchell Jon Deason, June 1, 2015 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon. He weighed 9 lbs., 1.2 ozs. and measured 22-1/2 inches in length at the time of his birth. He joins a sister, Kaylin (2).
Grandparents are Pam Mitchell of Waukon, Jeff Mitchell of Waterville, Chris Deason of Harpers Ferry and Steve Deason of Cedar Rapids. Great-grandparents are Susan and the late Roger Freese of Waukon, Ray and Lorraine Mitchell of Rossville, Myrtle and the late Donald Gilbert of Cedar Rapids and Nancy and the late Robert Deason of Cedar Rapids.

Everson, Harkness exchange vows in May 23 ceremony

Taylor Lee Everson of Westby, WI and Derrick Allan Harkness of La Crosse, WI exchanged wedding vows May 23, 2015 in the Grand Ballroom at the La Crosse Center in La Crosse, WI. Gary Volden was the officiant.
The bride is the daughter of Scot and Marsha Everson of Westby, WI. She is a 2012 graduate of Westby High School and is currently employed by Mayo Health Clinic. She is the granddaughter of Gary and Kathy Volden, Rodney Olson, Al and Cheri Everson and Geary and Dixie Buchanon.
The groom is the son of Tom and Iris Boots of La Crosse, WI. He is a 2010 graduate of Logan High School and is currently employed as the Assistant Manager at Toppers Pizza. He is the grandson of Richard and the late Sharon Boots, Robert Tippery and Nancy Wetzel.

Lawson, Rubendall to wed

Jackelyn Ann Lawson of Cresco and Blake Gordon Rubendall of Waukon announce their engagement and upcoming wedding. They plan to exchange vows June 20 at St. Paul’s Methodist Church in Waukon. A reception and dance will be held following the ceremony at the Fairgrounds Pavilion in Waukon.
The bride-elect is the daughter of Kim and Wyatt Hovey of Cresco and Reggie Lawson of Waukon. She is a graduate of Crestwood High School and the Total Look School of Cosmetology and Massage Therapy in Cresco. She has been a practicing massage therapist for several years and is also employed by Transamerica Life Insurance Company in Cedar Rapids.
The groom-elect is the son of Jackie and Steve Rubendall of Waukon. He is a graduate of Waukon Senior High School and the Ellsworth College Construction Technology program. He is currently employed by Salter Construction in North Liberty.

Don and Dorothy Hitchins to celebrate 60th anniversary

Don and Dorothy Hitchins were married June 18, 1955 at St. Pius Catholic Church, rural Harpers Ferry. They plan to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary by having a family picnic.
They are the parents of Kathy (Paul) Callan, Jim (Karen) Hitchins, Linda (Jeff) Mlsna, Joyce (Dave) Rzepiejewski, Joanne Hitchins, Kevin (Julie) Hitchins and Jody (Tom) Adams. They have 32 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Grandparents are Mike and Laurie Egan of Monona, Mari Ellen Koehn of Monona and Nick Koehn of Farmersburg. Great-grandparents are Lucille Smock of Decorah, Myrtle Egan of Harpers Ferry, Milo Frieden of Prairie du Chien, WI and Milford Koehn of St. Olaf.

Hammel, Preston exchange vows

Shelby Hammel of Dorchester and Matthew Preston of Guttenberg were joined in marriage January 31, 2015 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Waukon. The groom’s grandparents, Eugene and Karla Preston, celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary the same day.
The bride is the daughter of David and Karla Hammel of Dorchester. She is a graduate of Waukon Senior High School and attended Northeast Iowa Community College for Dairy Science. She is currently employed by Pattison Dairy.
The groom is the son of Richard and Debra Preston of Guttenberg. He is a graduate of Clayton Ridge High School and attended the John Deere program at Northeast Iowa Community College. He is currently employed as a mechanic at Bodensteiner’s in Elkader.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore an ivory lace dress with a cathedral veil and carried ivory roses accented with miniature pine cones and pine boughs. Her bouquet also included her great-grandmother Howe’s rosary.
