Obituaries are published in The Standard for a $45 fee and can be brought to the office at 15 First Street NW in Waukon, mailed to PO Box 286, Waukon IA 52172, or e-mailed to news@waukonstandard.com. Photos may be included for an additional charge of $15 (additonal photos are also $15). Obituaries of excessive length (longer than our single-column length of 15.5") will also incur an additional charge of $11/column inch for the content measuring longer than our 15.5-inch column length. Ann Trudo

Ann Louise Trudo, 74, of Marquette died Monday, June 13, 2016 at her home in Marquette. Funeral Services were held Thursday, June 16 at First Congregational Church, McGregor, with Rev. William Gentry as the Officiant. Burial followed at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, McGregor.

Ann was the daughter of Philip J. Jenson and Martha (Cole) Jenson and was born February 16, 1942 in Iowa City. She graduated from Lansing High School in 1960.

Ann was united in marriage with Eugene Lewis Trudo December 19, 1970 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in McGregor. Ann worked in Cedar Rapids in the electronics industry in her younger years, she then went and worked for McGregor Loud Speaker in McGregor and Prairie du Chien, WI for a few years.

Ilene Genz

Ilene Marie Genz, 81, of Harpers Ferry died Sunday, June 19, 2016 at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse, WI. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 23 at 11 a.m. at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon, with Rev. Lynn G. Groe officiating. Burial will be at Sixteen Cemetery, rural Monona. Friends may call one hour before services Thursday at the funeral home.

Ilene Marie Genz was born September 9, 1934 in Clinton, the daughter of Raymond and Leona (Vanloo) Shoemaker. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Irenaeus Catholic Church in Clinton and attended schools in the Clinton area.

October 11, 1952, she married Roland Genz in Camanche. After they were married, they lived in Virginia for three years before moving back to Clinton, and in 1972 they moved to La Claire before moving to Harpers Ferry in 1991.

Sheryl Kamm

Sheryl Margaret Kamm, 58, of Richland Center, WI died Thursday, June 16, 2016 at her home. A funeral mass was held Tuesday, June 21 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Richland Center, WI with burial in St Mary’s Ridge Catholic Cemetery in Cashton, WI. The family suggests memorials in Sheryl's name be directed to St. Mary’s Catholic School and Agrace Hospice.

Sheryl was born August 1, 1957 in Sparta, WI, the daughter of Sylvester and Margaret (Sullivan) Laufenberg. She graduated from Brookwood High School as Salutatorian in 1975. May 8, 1982, Sheryl married Mark Kamm at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Onalaska, WI. She attended WWTC in LaCrosse, WI and went to work at Heilemen’s Brewing Company as a secretary for 11 years.

John C. Hale

John C. Hale, 81, of New Albin died Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse, WI. Funeral services were held Monday, June 20 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in New Albin with Fr. John Moser officiating. Burial was at St. Joseph's Cemetery, New Albin. Martin Funeral Home in Waukon assisted the family with arrangements. Memorials are preferred to Gundersen Medical Foundation, 1836 South Avenue, La Crosse, WI 54601.

John Charles Hale was born August 2, 1934 in Waukon, the son of John and Helen (Schriver) Hale. He graduated from Waukon High School in 1952 and graduated from Bradley University in Peoria, IL in 1956. After college he worked for Lockheed Aircraft in Burbank, CA.

Randy Tysland

Randy Wayne Tysland, 60, died quietly in his home in Del City, OK May 29, 2016. A private family memorial will be held at a later date.

Randy was born September 21, 1955 in Waukon, the son of Joseph and Clarice Tysland of Waukon. Randy was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Waukon. He graduated from Waukon High School with the Class of 1973.

Survivors include two brothers and one sister: Lonnie (Charlotte) Tysland of Waukon, Regi (Denise) Tysland of Decorah, and Janell (Frederick) Stewart of Onalaska, WI. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Clarice Tysland of Waukon; and his grandparents, Frank Wayne and Melva Todd of Waukon, and Joseph and Vilda Tysland of Waterville.

Viola Moen

Viola E. Moen, 91, of Waukon died Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at her home. Funeral services were held Monday, June 13 at Zion United Church of Christ in Waukon, with Pastor Samantha Houser officiating. Burial was at Oakland Cemetery, Waukon. Martin Funeral Home in Waukon assisted the family with arrangements.

Viola Emma Moen was born December 15, 1924 on her parents’ farm in rural Frankville; she was the daughter of William and Martha (Grotegut) Snitker. She was baptized at home due to her mother’s illness; Viola was later confirmed at Zion United Church of Christ in Waukon. Since her mother died in February 1925, and Viola was a tiny baby, she was raised the first year by her father’s sister, Mrs. Fred Krumme.

Earl Iverson

Earl H. Iverson, 95, of rural Waterville died Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at his daughter’s home in Waukon. Funeral services were held Saturday, June 11 at Old East Paint Creek Lutheran Church in rural Waterville with Pastor Ken Kimball officiating. Burial was at the church cemetery.

Earl Howard Iverson was born August 5, 1920 on the rural Waterville farm of his parents, N. Herman and Josephine (Nelson) Iverson. He was baptized and confirmed at Old East Paint Creek Lutheran Church, where he was a life-long member and later served as Deacon. He attended the Waterville School and after finishing his education started farming by renting some ground from neighbors. For a couple of seasons he worked the grain harvest in the Dakotas to earn some extra start-up money and eventually he was able to buy a small farm in Paint Creek Township.

Leonard Wiegrefe

Leonard W. Wiegrefe, 95, of Eitzen, MN passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at Caledonia Care and Rehab in Caledonia, MN. Memorial services were held Saturday, June 11 at St. Luke’s United Church of Christ, Eitzen, MN, with Pastor Michael McCann officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Leonard was born February 24, 1921 in Winnebago Township, MN to Herman and Ella (Beneke) Wiegrefe. August 8, 1944, he married Lillie Reinke at St. John’s United Church of Christ, rural New Albin and they shared 70 years of marriage together.

Leonard and Lillie farmed in Union City Township, rural New Albin, until their retirement in 1983, when they moved to Eitzen, MN. During their time in Eitzen, Leonard worked for Wiebke Fur Company for about ten years. He also worked for the City of Eitzen for ten years and also cleaned up the Eitzen Community Center after events.

Mary Pounds

Mary Pounds, longtime resident of Roswell, NM and most recently of Artesia, NM, passed from this earthly life May 27, 2016 at her home in Artesia, NM at age 92. Services were held Wednesday, June 1 at LaGrone Funeral Chapel, with burial following at Memory Lawn Memorial Park, all in Roswell, NM.

Mary was born June 16, 1923 to her parents, Leo Strub and Catherine Corrigan Strub, at home in Lansing Township on Gruber Ridge in Allamakee County. She was the oldest of six children: Mary, Dolores Damon of LaCrescent, WI, Theresa Grzecka of Buena Park, CA, Leeanette Whalen of Elkader, and twins James Strub and John Strub of Lansing.

Margaret Gretl Reiterer

Margaret Gretl Reiterer passed away May 24, 2016 at the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon. She would have been 96 years old June 2 of this year.

Margaret was born in Fohnsdorf, Austria June 2, 1920 to Karl Reiterer and Anna Stenk Reiterer. She moved to the United States when she was 18 years old and eventually taught in St. Louis, MO for several years.  Then, she became co-owner of a Montessori School of Dayton, OH. After retiring, she moved to Clarkfield, MN, and she then moved to the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon in November of 2005.

Gretl enjoyed reading, listening to the music events, and had many friends at the nursing home who were all so kind to her, as she was to them. Friends in Waukon are Dr. Ken and Sharon Olson, who have cared for her also. Her survivors are all in Austria.
