Second half slowdown seals 30-20 defeat for Waukon football team at Beckman

The Waukon football team opened up its Class 2A District 3 schedule in fine fashion by building a 20-8 halftime lead at Dyersville Beckman Friday, September 19, but had that lead erode away in the second half to, instead, suffer a 30-20 loss. It was big plays that put the Indians on the scoreboard, including passes of 63 and 58 yards and a 43-yard run, but it was the “little things” that added up to ultimately let the win get away in the second half.
Now holding a 1-3 overall record with a 0-1 start to District 3 play, the Indians will return home this Friday, September 26 for their Homecoming game, playing host to Class 2A top-five rated North Fayette Valley. The TigerHawks come off a 42-14 home victory over Oelwein this past Friday and currently hold a 3-1 record that includes an even, 1-1 mark in Class 2A District 3 play.
