Kee girls basketball team comes up just shy, 38-36, at Central Elkader

The only game played by the Kee girls basketball team this past week proved to be a blow to the hopes of the Lady Hawks defending their Upper Iowa Conference (UIC) championship from last season, as the Kee girls fell a bit behind early at Central Elkader Friday, January 25 and had a valiant comeback effort in the second half come up just short for a 38-36 loss to the host Warriors. The loss drops the Hawks to a 13-3 season record that includes a now 10-2 UIC mark to currently stand in second place behind a yet UIC-undefeated MFL/MarMac team that still has five UIC games yet to play, including a date in Kee’s home gym this Friday, February 1.

The Kee girls were slated to also host MFL/MarMac Friday, February 1 before supposedly wrapping up their regular season with a Tuesday, February 5 home game with West Central, pending those other postponements. The Hawks will then begin Class 1A regional tournament play Tuesday, February 12.
