In its only competition of the past week, the Waukon volleyball team remained in search of its first Northeast Iowa Conference win after falling to Oelwein at home in three straight sets Tuesday, September 23. The Indians battled the Huskies fairly closely throughout each of the three sets, suffering some lapses in consistency to allow Oelwein to manage the upperhand in all three sets by final scores of 21-25, 19-25 and 16-25.
Now holding a 12-6 overall match record, 0-2 in Northeast Iowa Conference (NEIC) play, the Indians were scheduled to travel to Class 4A Waverly-Shell Rock Tuesday, September 30 before hosting their final home dual match of the season Thursday, October 2 against New Hampton in a “Pink Out” event, details of which can be found in a colored box elsewhere on these Sports pages. The Indians will then wrap up their busy week by playing in the Waterloo Columbus Tournament Saturday, October 4 before traveling to Crestwood Tuesday, October 7.
