Kee softball to begin postseason tournament play at home July 6

The Kee softball team will be playing its entire Class 1A Region 3 Tournament schedule on its home field, receiving a first-round bye before beginning with a quarterfinal match-up in New Albin Wednesday, July 6 at 7 p.m. against the winner of a first-round match-up between Turkey Valley and Riceville. The quarterfinal winner will then move on to a Friday, July 8 regional semifinal contest also to be played at New Albin beginning at 7 p.m. That semifinals opponent will emerge from first-round match-ups featuring Janesville vs. Central Elkader and Dunkerton vs. Edgewood-Colesburg.

The regional semifinal winner will then advance on to the regional championship game to be played Monday, July 11 at 7 p.m. on the home field of the highest remaining seed in the Region 3 bracket, with the Hawks being the bracket’s highest-seeded team. That regional championship opponent will emerge from the opposite side of the Region 3 bracket and could be either 15th-rated Central City (the other team to receive a first-round bye in the Region 3 bracket), East Buchanan, West Central, 13th-rated North Butler, Tripoli, Clarksville or Nashua-Plainfield. The Region 3 champion will earn qualification for the Class 1A State Tournament to be played in Fort Dodge Monday, July 18 through Friday, July 22.
