Palmer, Votsmier exchange vows in February ceremony
Jennifer and Lars Palmer
Lars Wayne Palmer and Jennifer Rose Votsmier, both of Waukon, exchanged vows February 6, 2016 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon. The bride is the daughter of Chuck and Lois Votsmier of Waukon, and the groom is the son of Mark and Deb Palmer of Waukon.
The bride is a 2003 graduate of Waukon Senior High School and is a graduate of Kirkwood Community College with an AAS degree in Culinary Arts. She is employed at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon.
The groom is a 2000 graduate of Waukon Senior High School and is a graduate of Iowa State University with a BS degree in Agricultural Systems Technology. He farms in Ludlow township, rural Waukon.
The bride was given away by her father, Chuck Votsmier. The Maid of Honor was Sarah Snitker, a friend of the bride, from Waukon. Bridesmaids were Lane Rich and Lindsey Lund, both of Waukon and sisters of the groom, and Leeta Sivesind, friend of the bride, also from Waukon.
The bride wore a strapless trumpet-style Alfred Angelo gown of ivory lace over satin. The gown featured hand-embroidered lace rhinestones, crystal beading, sequins, pearls and flowers, and a chapel train. It was complemented with a hair swag of silver vines and flowers. The bride carried a hand-tied bouquet of white silk roses, hydrangeas and bluebonnets. The Maid of Honor and bridesmaids wore cocktail-length sheath dresses in black. Each carried a hand-tied bouquet of white silk hydrangeas.
The Best Man was Shawn Sponheim of St. Ansgar, an Alpha Gamma Rho brother of the groom. Groomsmen were Brent Madden of Kansas City, KS and Adam Nechanicky of Buckingham, both of whom are Alpha Gamma Rho brothers of the groom, and Scott Votsmier of Waukon, brother of the bride.
Ushers were Dave Baitinger of Ogden, an Alpha Gamma Rho brother of the groom, Donald Brown of Decorah, cousin of the groom, and Patrick Monroe of Waukon and John Palmer of Waukon, both friends of the groom.
Deacon Mike Ward officiated the ceremony. Mass servers were Reagan and Kamryn Klas of New Vienna, cousins of the bride. The soloist was Lois Votsmier, mother of the bride. The lector was Judy Winter, aunt of the bride.
A reception followed the service at the Waukon Reception Center. Mark Votsmier and Cheryl Kass, godparents of the bride, and Dan and Wanda Brown, uncle and aunt of the groom, were the hosts/hostesses.
The newlyweds have made their home outside of Waukon in Ludlow township.
