Kee cross country team competes at large Jesup Invite; girls finish 14th

The Kee cross country team competed in another large meet when the Hawks traveled to Jesup Tuesday, September 27. Competing against nearly two dozen other teams, the Kee cross country girls had just enough runners to compile the Hawks’ only team score at the meet, finishing 14th out of 21 teams, while the Kee boys had just four runners compete in their varsity race and two compete in the junior varsity field.

“Jesup puts together a very good group of schools, there were several highly regarded 1A, 2A and 3A schools in the 29-team field,” Kee cross country coach Pat Wagner said. “Looking at times and placings, I feel like we are in a good spot. All of our runners can shave a little time but our girls match up well with other top-notch area 1A schools. All Hawk runners need to work on our second and third miles. At this point of the season we need to be concerned about continually getting better.”

The Hawks were scheduled to double-dip this week, competing at the South Winneshiek Invitational Tuesday, October 4 and the New Hampton Invitational Thursday, October 6. Kee will then prepare for its Upper Iowa Conference Meet to be hosted by Starmont Thursday, October 13.
