Waukon boys basketball team tosses in season-high point total in 81-57 win over Oelwein

Having played the Oelwein Huskies to just an eight-point road victory in early December during a back-and-forth battle through alternating quarters, the Waukon boys basketball team, instead, used a dominating third quarter to pull away from an otherwise much tighter contest when they hosted the Huskies in their second match-up of the season Friday, January 20. In a swing of momentum that actually began with a 5-0 run to end the second frame, the Indians furthered that momentum with a 24-8 outscoring of the visiting Huskies in that third period to distance themselves on the way to their highest point total of the season and an 81-57 victory.

Improving to a 4-6 season record with the win over Oelwein, 2-4 in Northeast Iowa Conference play, the basketball Tribe was scheduled to hit the road this entire week, playing at Spring Grove, MN Monday, January 23 before traveling to Crestwood Tuesday, January 24 and then playing at Class 3A top-rated Waverly-Shell Rock Friday, January 27. The Indians will then enter their busiest week of the season, making up that twice-postponed game at Decorah Monday, January 30 before hosting MFL/MarMac Tuesday, January 31 and Prairie du Chien, WI Thursday, February 2 and then playing at Charles City Friday, February 3.
