Linda Gerleman

Linda L. Gerleman, 60, of Sumner died Thursday, February 14, 2019 at Community Memorial Hospital in Sumner, with her family by her side. A Celebration of Linda’s Life will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, February 24 at Becker-Milnes Funeral Chapel in Sumner with Rev. Tracy Hinkel officiating.

Visitation will precede the  service Sunday starting at 11 a.m. Following the service friends are invited to join the family at the American Legion Hall in Sumner for a luncheon and fellowship.

Linda Lou, daughter of Thomas and Alice (Steffenson) Stone, was born February 23, 1958 at the Waukon hospital. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Waukon. Linda received her education in the Waukon schools and graduated from Waukon High School in 1976.

June 13, 1981, she was united in marriage with Gary Gerleman at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon. To this union four children were born, Justin, Alice, Ashley and Matthew. The couple would later divorce, but remained close friends.

She enjoyed gardening, camping, fishing and playing cards. Linda’s greatest joy in life came from spending time with her children and grandchildren, who she would regularly take to the local movie theater and taught to play King’s Corner.

Linda is survived by her four children, Justin (Stephanie) Gerleman of Fredericksburg, Alice (Seth) Ameling of Sumner, Ashley Gerleman of Sumner and Matthew Gerleman of Dallas, TX; 11 grandchildren, MaKayla Nelson, Chelsea Gerleman, Alley Gerleman, Taggart Kite, Jorja Gerleman, Taitym Limkemann, Teghyn Limkemann, Haylee Gerleman, Levi Ameling, Leland Ameling and Kyla Limkemann; six siblings, Mary Stone, Darrell (Jean) Stone and Wayne (Nona) Stone, all of Waukon, Rita (Steve) Kunkle of West Union, Lori Becker of New Hampton and Tim (Wendy) Stone of Anamosa; several nieces and nephews; and her former husband, Gary Gerleman of Cedar Rapids. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Katie Giese.
