Oliver Roderick

Oliver R. Roderick, 96, of Waukon, died Thursday, July 7, 2022, at Northgate Care Center in Waukon. Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 12, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Waukon with Pastor Bryan Robertson officiating. Burial was at Oakland Cemetery, Waukon. Friends greeted the family at Martin - Grau Funeral Home in Waukon.

Oliver Russell Roderick was born April 29, 1926, in Minneapolis, MN, the son of William Gilbert and Anna Marie (Huffman) Roderick. He was baptized at St. John’s Lutheran Church and attended rural country schools in the Waukon area. On April 29, 1948, he married Margery Ehde at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Oliver hauled cream for area farmers and he and Margery purchased a farm in Makee Township, raising livestock and crops until 1975. Oliver then built the D & O Carwash that he owned and operated with Donald Flage.
 
He served on the Allamakee County Fair Board for 25 years. Oliver enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, and snowmobiling. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
 
Survivors include his children: Colinda Roderick and Burdell Roderick, both of Waukon, Wynn (David) Wagner of Postville, and Von (John) Collins of Waukon; five grandchildren: Brandon (Shannon) Roderick of Sparta, WI, Amanda (Nick) Winter of Waukon, Amy (Ian) McCormick of Waterville, Sarah (Kelly Pearson) Collins of Waukon, and Jason (Jenna) Collins of Waukon; nine great-grandchildren: Cael Rethwisch, Leo and Ezra McCormick, Araina and Devlin Roderick, and Wayde, Harper, and Emery Winter, and Lilly Collins; two sisters: Carol Moe of Waukon and Sharon Massie of Illinois; and a brother Gilbert Leroy (Sharon) Roderick of St. Anthony, MN. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Margery, who died in 2014; two brothers: Robert and Marlin; and two sisters: Leota and Alta Prestemon.
 
Casketbearers were Brandon Roderick, Jason Collins, Nick Winter, Ian McCormick, Cael Rethwisch, and Dave Prestemon.
