Waukon softball team’s four wins in seven games include road sweep at Waverly-Shell Rock and seventh-place finish at W. Delaware Tournament

The Waukon softball team played through a busy week with better than average results of four wins in seven games. The softball Tribe opened the week with a doubleheader sweep at Waverly-Shell Rock Tuesday, June 13 with wins of 5-1 and 11-5 before being tripped up by a 6-5 result at Crestwood Wednesday, June 14. The Indians then played four games at the West Delaware Tournament, evenly splitting those games for the tournament and on each day of the event, including an 8-4 win over Dyersville Beckman followed by a 10-0 loss to Class 3A second rated Davenport Assumption in five innings Friday, June 16 and then another split Saturday, June 17 that included a 13-1 loss in four innings to Class 1A top-rated North Linn and a 7-2 win over Independence to finish in seventh place in the 16-team tournament.

Now holding a 12-10 season record that includes a 4-5 mark in Northeast Iowa Conference (NEIC) play, the Lady Indians were next scheduled to host North Fayette Valley Monday, June 19 and Decorah for a varsity doubleheader Tuesday, June 20 before playing at New Hampton Friday, June 23 and then three games in the Decorah Tournament Saturday, June 24. The diamond Tribe will then wrap up its regular season schedule with a NEIC doubleheader at Charles City Tuesday, June 27 before playing at MFL/MarMac Wednesday, June 28 and then hosting Waverly-Shell Rock Friday, June 30, with Class 3A Regional Tournament play scheduled to begin Thursday, July 6.
