Sweeney Real Estate donates to Waukon Wrestling Club following purchase of property for new training facility ...

Completion of a real estate transaction that resulted in the Waukon Wrestling Club non-profit group purchasing the shop area steel building (pictured in the photo background above) at 807 1st Avenue SW in Waukon further resulted in a generous donation presented to the Waukon Wrestling Club by Sweeney Real Estate of Waukon, the agency involved in the property transaction. The shop building was previously owned by Adam and Jennifer Hooten as part of the Teddy’s Auto Sales location, and the Waukon Wrestling Club had recently purchased the building to create a new training facility for the Waukon Wrestling Club and its many youth participants of all ages and skill levels.

Sweeney Real Estate Broker Associate John Sweeney said completion of the transaction allowed the real estate agency to donate $1,000 - part of the commission earned from the sale of the property - back to the Waukon Wrestling Club. “Since they supported our business, we wanted to give back to support their non-profit,” Sweeney said. “This is truly how a small community thrives... by working together and supporting each other’s businesses and groups.”

In a statement issued by the Waukon Wrestling Club regarding the property purchase and the donation from Sweeney Real Estate, the club explained it is “a non-profit program that aims to make wrestling accessible to all children in our community, regardless of their financial background. We have thriving high school and middle school programs for girls and boys. We currently share one wrestling room and have put mats on a gym floor to create enough space for around 200 participants K-12. The purchase of a building for the club will allow us to expand the reach of our program and positively impact the lives of more young individuals who may not otherwise have the opportunity to participate in wrestling. Through our outreach efforts, we provide an annual scholarship to a senior high school club participant, wrestling camp opportunities by bringing in superior clinicians, transportation support to those in need, and now an excellent training facility. Sweeney Real Estate is one of many community contributors that make our goal possible of having a new training facility up and running this season!”
