The Kee cross country teams ended up competing in just one of two meets they had scheduled for this past week, having the Tuesday, September 5 Clayton Ridge Invitational canceled due to extreme heat conditions that made their way into the area during the early part of last week. In their lone meet this week, the distance Hawks competed in the very large Luther All-American Invitational in Decorah Saturday, September 9 that featured more than 30 high school teams in scoring competition in addition to middle school and college and university team competition in more than half a dozen different races throughout the day.
Both the Kee boys and girls had just one competitor in their respective varsity races at the meet. Sophomore Addison Winters competed for the Hawks in the varsity girls race at the meet, finishing 211th out of 241 runners overall in that varsity girls race in a time of 25:59.10. Sophomore Justin Wagner was also the lone Kee boy to run in the varsity race at Luther, finishing 106th out of a total of 259 runners with a clocking of 18:29.40.
A majority of the Hawk boys’ runners competed in the junior varsity race at Luther’s All-American Invitational, with those five Hawks being enough to compile a team score in that junior varsity field. That effort placed the Kee boys 19th in the 23-team junior varsity field with 529 team points.
The Hawks are next scheduled to travel to Elkader this Thursday, September 14 for the Central Invitational. They will then compete in the Waukon Invitational that is slated for Tuesday, September 19 before taking part in the De Soto, WI Invitational Saturday, September 23.
