The Waukon volleyball team played through one of its busiest weeks of the season this past week, first competing on back-to-back nights to start the week before wrapping it up with a weekend tournament. The Lady Indians played to opposite results on each end of that week’s worth of competition, as they first swept MFL/MarMac in three straight sets at home Monday, September 25 before waging war against Decorah through a five-set marathon to defeat the Vikings and secure their first dual match win in Northeast Iowa Conference (NEIC) play in two years.

That early-week success faded away on the weekend tournament trail, but against some much larger and more highly regarded experience as the net Tribe fell in all three of its matches played in the Waterloo Columbus Tournament Saturday, September 30. The Indians were swept by Class 1A sixth-rated North Tama, Class 4A eighth-rated Marion and another Class 4A squad, Waterloo West, to have their tournament day ended shy of advancing to any tournament bracket play.

Currently holding an 8-12 season record but now securing their first win in Northeast Iowa Conference (NEIC) play in four matches so far this season, the Lady Indians were next scheduled to wrap up their dual match regular season schedule at Class 3A sixth-rated New Hampton Tuesday, October 3. The net Tribe will then return to New Hampton Thursday, October 12 to begin the first round of the Northeast Iowa Conference Tournament before finishing up that annual two-day event Saturday, October 14 at Charles City.
