Motorists advised to use caution this Saturday during Driftless running events ...

The Driftless Half Marathon, Relay and 5K running events will be taking place along the Mississippi River and in Lansing this Saturday, October 14 and Allamakee County Emergency Management wants to remind motorists to be aware of runners on the roadway routes depicted in the accompanying map images for each event. The half marathon and relay race will start at 7:30 a.m. on the Great River Road near the intersection of Collins Ridge Road just north of Harpers Ferry and continue north towards Lansing for 13.3 miles (as depicted by the green highlighted area in the map above). Shortly after starting, the runners will turn right and take the Red Oak Road loop back to Great River Road near the Wexford Church, continuing north until completing the race at the softball complex in Lansing, with all runners off the course by 11:30 a.m.

Additionally, a 5K race will take place within Lansing itself with the start and finish line in front of the Lansing Fire Station with a start time of 8 a.m. A map (below) is also provided of the route these runners will follow. Motorists driving in these areas this Saturday morning are reminded to exercise caution and be on the lookout for runners and support vehicles.
