The 2024 Waukon boys track and field team will experience the spectrum of participation perspective this spring. On the high side of that spectrum is the fact that one-fourth of this season’s participants will bring back letterwinning experience from previous seasons, but on the opposite end of that spectrum is the fact that the experienced one-fourth is part of only 44 total participants, the smallest participation numbers veteran head coach Ted Snitker has seen in his tenure - down considerably from his highest participation numbers ever of 71 team members just two seasons ago.

Within this season’s 44 competitors, 11 of them bring back varsity letterwinning experience, and some of those have multiple years of that experience. A trio of seniors in Skyler Dugan, Wyatt Gulla and Jack O’Neill will join forces with the largest returning class of veterans in the seven juniors that include Jaxon Brinkman, Garrison Byrnes, Graine Curtin, Ethan Gibbs, Judah Johnson, Pryson Rasmussen and Isaac Reisinger, along with a lone letterwinning sophomore returnee in Colton O’Neill, to make up this season’s varsity veteran core.

The Indians were scheduled to get their team competition season underway Tuesday, March 19 at the Northeast Iowa Conference Indoor Meet at Luther College in Decorah. The Waukon boys will then begin their outdoor schedule at the Sumner-Fredericksburg Invitational Tuesday, March 26 before the track Tribe will host its own Early Bird Invitational Thursday, March 28.
