The Waukon girls track and field team will reap the rewards of having 14 young ladies return this spring with varsity letterwinning experience from previous seasons, with more than half of those returning veterans bringing back experience at the highest level of high school competition in the state of Iowa. That veteran crew consists of good representation from each of the three eligible returnable grade levels to headline a squad of 37 young ladies for this spring.

The largest group of that returning veteran experience comes from all six of this season’s seniors that include Olivia Bossom, Kloe Hemmersbach, Cameron Johnson, Kaitlyn Krambeer, Mia Kurth and Ashlin O’Neill. That same scenario rings true for this season’s junior class of three members who all return with letterwinning experience in Mallory Berns, Mari Delaney and Reese McCormick. More than half of this year’s sophomore class rounds out this season’s varsity veterans in Avalea Burns, Breelyn Dahlstrom, Emma O’Neill, Willa Troendle and Elle Wilkins.

The Lady Indians were scheduled to get their first taste of that conference competition at the NEIC Indoor Meet hosted by Luther College in Decorah Tuesday, March 19. The Waukon girls will then compete at the Sumner-Fredericksburg Invitational next Tuesday, March 26.
