Lisa Everson made the world’s best mashed potatoes.
Yes, she accomplished many other things but the quality of her potatoes (fondly known as “he he” potatoes) cannot be overstated - seriously. Unfortunately, if you’ve never had “he he” potatoes, you’ve sadly missed out because April 6, 2024 Lisa Joan Everson passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family.
A private family ceremony was held for Lisa Saturday, April 13. A Celebration of Life for all family and friends to attend will be held on her birthday, July 7, 2024, at 11 a.m., at Blackhawk Park near De Soto, WI.
Lisa had a knack for flare and independence even at birth, arriving three days early to Harold and Linda Everson July 7, 1959. She graduated from De Soto High School in 1977, participating in cheerleading, pom pom, gymnastics, track, theater and choir. Lisa’s hard work and athletic skills earned her the Pirate Athlete of the Year award in 1977. Never afraid of a challenge, she went on to work in road construction for over 25 years across the state of Wisconsin, and when off in the winter, she worked difficult jobs like commercial fishing and tending bar - she was simply “tough as nails”.
Family was the most important thing to Lisa, and she made sure everyone knew how much she loved them. Her love was so vast that in addition to supporting her large family she became the guardian of two teenagers, Carol and Frances Barry, when she was only 19 years old.
Lisa’s biggest joy came from her son, Chad. Her eyes twinkled with pride in his presence, and her joy only grew when Chad and Crystal were married and gave her a grandson, Hunter. Grandma Lisa loved spending time with Hunter, and he was instantly another ray of sunshine in her life.
She taught her grandson, nieces and nephews to fish and loved going on the river with her family, often camping at sandbars near Lansing. A devoted Green Bay Packers fan, Lisa cheered on her favorite team throughout the good and the bad, often yelling at the TV, which she will surely also be doing from Heaven.
Lisa and her four sisters, known as The Everson Girls, formed an unbreakable support system, navigating life’s ups and downs with love and resilience. With her big laugh, quick-witted stories, she was the life of the party, leaving a lasting impression on the hearts of all she met.
Lisa blessed us with 64 years of laughter, stories and adventure, and was greeted at the gates of heaven by beloved grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Lisa is survived by her son, Chad Everson, his wife Crystal (Nickelatti) and her grandson Hunter of De Soto, WI; her parents, Harold and Linda (Worman) Everson of De Soto, WI; her four sisters, Laurie (Tim) Manning of Lansing, Jeannette (Erik) Wuensch of La Crosse, WI, Lynn (Rich) Tully of Stoddard, WI and Julie (Steve) Ingram of La Crescent, MN; her nieces and nephews, Noelle, Trish, Tyler, Jessica, Kristina, Alex, Zach, Rachel, Lydia, Jason, Cory and Ashley; along with 12 great-nieces and great-nephews that brought her tremendous joy.
