Area residents invited to contribute to food drive being conducted by area health care organizations

Northgate Care Center, owned and operated by ABCM Corporation of Hampton, has coordinated a food drive with the participation of other local medical health care organizations in the community and the surrounding area. The staff of Northgate Care Center, Veterans Memorial Hospital, Mayo Clinic, and Gundersen Lutheran Clinic will be contributing food items to be donated to the Allamakee County Relief Office Monday, November 19, prior to the Thanksgiving holiday.
Every year many people experience misfortune and are unable to provide necessary food items to feed their families. Non-perishable food donations are an excellent resource for the Allamakee County Relief Office’s ongoing efforts to provide food to those in need throughout Allamakee County.

Anyone in the community who would like to contribute to this food drive is more than welcome to do so. Drop-off bins will be located at the participating medical health organizations in Waukon: Northgate Care Center, Veterans Memorial Hospital, Mayo Clinic and Gundersen Lutheran Clinic, as well as Gundersen Lutheran Clinics located in Postville and Lansing.
Recommended food items for donation include canned meats, fish, soup, fruits and vegetables, pasta, hot and cold cereal, macaroni and cheese, rice, beans and peanut butter, to mention a few. No glass containers or expired items will be accepted. Grocery gift cards, with a limit of $10, will be accepted as well but should be signed in at the offices of the participating organizations where they are being dropped off.
Those who have further questions regarding this food drive are asked to call Barb Thies at Northgate Care Center at 563-568-3493.
