Artwork by Judith Engle on display at Effigy Mounds during Annual Film Festival

As part of the 48th Annual Effigy Mounds National Monument Winter Film Festival, Judith Engle of Waukon will be displaying her American Indian portraits, such as the one pictured at right. Engle's exhibit, entitled "American Indians - Ioway to Inca", will be on display from January 11 through January 25 at the Visitors Center at Effigy Mounds. The display will feature images of many members of the Meskwaki and Ho Chunk Nations who have participated in events at Effigy Mounds.
The film being shown as part of the Annual Winter Film Festival at Effigy Mounds the weekend of January 22-24 will be "The Way of the Warrior", which will feature American Indians who served in the U.S. military. Many of the subjects of the exhibit are men who fought in wars for the United States during the past century.
Engle is a former art teacher at the Junior High and Senior High Schools in Waukon. She has lived in Waukon since 2004. Submitted image.
