Benefit event for Kaitlyn Quandahl

Four-year-old Kaitlyn Quandahl, daughter of Cory and Selina Quandahl of Decorah, was diagnosed with pontine glioma, cancer of the brain steam, July 29. Unfortunately, the tumor has been reported by medical professionals as being inoperable and incurable.
After recent treatment at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN, Kaitlyn has received her greatest wish: She is now home with her family, being cared for by her loving parents and many caring family members, neighbors and friends.
In support of the Quandahl family, their friends and family members are teaming up with four area churches: Hauge Lutheran, St. John's Lutheran-Locust, Burr Oak Lutheran, and Hesper Lutheran, to host a benefit lunch and auction this Saturday, August 25, the same day as Kaitlyn's fifth birthday. The event is being held at the North Winneshiek School, which is located at 3495 North Winn Road, north of Decorah.
The event begins with a lunch being served from 11 a.m.-2 p.m., with an auction to follow at 2 p.m.
Donations for the auction are welcome and can be dropped off at Shawver Well's Waukon office or the Fareway store in Decorah. Supplemental funds are being provided by Thrivent Financial.
For more information or to offer assistance with the event, contact Lori Rea at 563-735-5711 or Darlene Vine at 563-382-8004.
Kaitlyn is the granddaughter of Dale and Virginia Kurth of Waukon, Marsha Kurth of LaCrosse, WI, and Ray and Julie Quandahl of Decorah.
