Cemetery Restoration workshop Saturday

A Cemetery Restoration workshop has been scheduled for Saturday, September 24 from 10 a.m.-12 noon at Sixteen Cemetery in Linton Township of Allamakee County. The workshop is free and open to the public.
The workshop is supported by the Linton Township Trustees and a rain date has been scheduled for October 1. Workshop leaders will stay later to answer specific questions and/or give demonstrations as requested by attendees.
Among the workshop curriculum will include the maing points of identification of tombstones in relationship to their repair needs; type of equipment needed to raise stones; broken stones and location of all pieces; agreement on need for flat pour repair; footstones placement; spraying stones vs. scrubbing; and other questions, concerns, opinions that need to be discussed.
Steve Story, Past President, charter member and current board member of the State Association for the Preservation of Iowa Cemeteries (SAPIC), has been repairing and restoring pioneer cemeteries since 1980. He is a member of the Fayette County Pioneer Cemetery Commission and an advisory member of the Jones County Pioneer Cemetery Commission.
