Changes by Kelly settling in at Allamakee Street location

Changes by Kelly was opened for business in Waukon July 14 by owner Kelly Mahr, a 2003 graduate of Waukon Senior High and a 2007 graduate of Total Look School of Cosmetology and Massage Therapy in Cresco.
Mahr says she decided to open her own business after talking with Janine Wirth, owner of Wall to Wall in downtown Waukon, about a rental space. “Everything just fell into place at the right time and I couldn’t turn the opportunity down,” Mahr said. “I’m very happy with the decision.”
Locating her business in Waukon was an easy decision for Mahr. “I’m from the area and have a clientele that would have been upset if I left, and I would like to continue to build more clientele here,” she said.
Owning her own business has been a dream come true for Mahr. “I have been doing hair since I can remember and I’m very happy to know I’m doing something I love,” she said. “I never thought I’d get excited every morning to go to work.”
“I love meeting new people and would love people to stop by, check out the salon and give me a try,” Mahr said. “There will be lots of laughs in this salon.”
In the future, Mahr would like to expand and add employees to help keep variety and different ideas in the atmosphere.
Changes by Kelly is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Thursday and Friday, Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Tuesday from 2 to 9 p.m. For more information, call 563-568-4566.
