Corner of Hope 2011 FRB Growing Project begins new year organization

The first organizational meeting of the Corner of Hope Steering Committee for the 2011 Foods Resource Bank (FRB) local growing project will be held Tuesday, March 29 at 7:30 p.m. at the Zion United Church of Christ in Waukon.
Local farmers donate much of their work of cultivating and planting, and crop inputs are donated by local agribusinesses for seed, spray, or fertilizer. Rent for the fields is at a very fair rate or donated. With costs minimized because of these generous donations of time, work and supplies, the total amount from crop sales will be greater to contribute to the Foods Resource Bank in the fall. Local churches, banks, businesses and individuals support the Corner of Hope with financial contributions to help cover costs and to be counted in the total that will go to sustainable agricultural projects that provide food security in other countries.
Those who want to know more or are interested in being a part of the steering committee for the 2011 Corner of Hope may contact John Prestemon at 563-568-6861.
