Farm accident claims McGregor man near Volney

At approximately 6:40 a.m. Friday, July 12, the Allamakee County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a fatal farm accident at 206 Country Road in southern Allamakee County, between Monona and the community of Volney.
A report from the Sheriff's Office indicates that 63-year-old Daniel Specht of McGregor was moving round hay bales in the 200 block of Country Road when a bale on the front loader of the tractor Specht was operating rolled back onto him, causing fatal injuries.
The accident remains under investigation by the Allamakee County Sheriff’s Office. Assisting at the scene were the Monona Fire Department, Monona Ambulance Service and Veterans Memorial Hospital Ambulance Service.
