Free dental services offered by local dental teams have big community impact

More than 100 patients received the benefit of free dental care as the 22nd Annual Have a Heart Day was hosted by area dental care providers Saturday, February 11. The event provided an opportunity for kids ages four to 18 years of age, who have not recently seen a dentist for whatever reason, to receive free dental care.
The staff at Waukon Dental, Family Dentistry Associates of Monona, Dental Associates of Decorah, P.C, and Dental Associates of Prairie du Chien, P.C. provided a variety of dental services throughout that busy Saturday, including check-ups, x-rays, treatment for toothaches, extractions, fillings, sealants and dental hygiene cleanings, all at no cost. The extent of services provided to patients this year totaled more than $28,500 in value.
Dr. Mark Fohey, Dr. Eric Shelton, Dr. Steven Kurth, Dr. Mark Buitenwerf and Dr. Christi Larson, along with their staff members, volunteered their time and services for the annual Have a Heart Day event. This was the 22nd annual event in Waukon, Monona and Decorah, with the Prairie du Chien, WI office providing Have a Heart Day services for the 18th year.
Patients were also treated to fresh apples, oranges and bananas, as well as 100% juice and water following their visit. The participating doctors and dental staff members enjoy the opportunity to offer this day as a thank you to area communities for continued support, and look forward to providing the same service during next year's Have a Heart Day, which will be held in February of 2013.
