Helen Ludeking is new coordinator for Waukon Senior Dining Center

Helen Ludeking is the new Coordinator at the NorthLand Agency on Aging Senior Dining Center in Waukon. The noontime meal program is held Monday through Friday each week at the Senior Center in the Waukon Wellness Center at 1220 Third Avenue NW.
“Helen stepped to the plate to volunteer when former coordinator Delores Paus retired,” stated Betty Ransom, NorthLand Nutrition Director. “We are delighted that she is willing to assume the responsibilities and we are confident she is up to the challenge. She is a charming and kind lady - one who exemplifies the spirit of volunteerism,” added Ransom.
Ludeking and her husband, Gale, moved back to Waukon 17 years ago, after living for many years in Wisconsin and other northeast Iowa communities. Born in McGregor, she graduated from Waukon High School. She taught two years in Iowa country schools, and raised three sons. She also spent a number of years as a personal caregiver for older adult clients.
“I’d like to see more people eating at the dining center,” said Ludeking. “It’s a great place to eat a good meal at a reasonable cost, and the conversation is engaging,” she added. According to Ludeking, efforts are underway to bring some fun and entertaining activities to the dining center to attract new participants. To make a reservation for dinner, call Ludeking at 563-568-6360.
