Helping Services to host 5K Run/Walk for Domestic Violence Awareness Month

In recognition of October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the Helping Services for Northeast Iowa Domestic and Sexual Abuse Resource Center is sponsoring a 5K Run/Walk to help raise awareness of domestic violence. The event is being held Wednesday, October 10 and will begin with registration at 4:30 p.m. at the Northeast Iowa YMCA in Postville, with the actual run/walk event beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Statistics show that one in every four women experience domestic violence. October is the month to recognize victims of domestic abuse and what can be done about it.
The first 50 people to register for the event will receive a free t-shirt. Registration and payment of the $10 registration fee can be accomplished by visiting www.helpingservices.org/endabuse through October 4, by mail before October 1 at Helping Services, Attn. Viktoria, P.O. Box 524, Postville, IA 52162, or on the day of the race at 4:30 p.m. at the Northeast Iowa YMCA in Postville.
The day of the event, all who have registered will need to sign a liability and photo release. Please do so at the check-in table. No one will be allowed to participate until this form is signed. In case of event cancellation, registration will not be refunded. This is not a competitive event and will not be timed. Door prizes will be given away.
