ISU Extension Summer Daycamps for July, August

Daycamps offered by Iowa State University Extension in Allamakee County are still available for registration this summer. ISU Extension summer daycamps provide a learning experience in a safe environment with professional staff.  Camp curricula draw on the knowledge base of Iowa State University Extension and the 4-H program with a century of experience in positive youth development.
Daycamps begin in mid-June and have a registration fee due one week before camp.   Camp participants need to bring a sack lunch, water bottle, a hat, bug spray and wear casual comfortable clothes and sunscreen. Space is limited, so early registration is recommended.
Brochures for the daycamps were distributed at area schools and are available at the Allamakee County Extension office or online at www.extension.iastate.edu/allamakee. Below are the 2010 Daycamps taking place in July and August:

Art in Nature: For youth in grades Kindergarten-Third who enjoy nature and creating masterpieces from natural materials. Youth will spend the day learning how nature is connected to art in many ways.   This camp is offered from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. July 19 at the Waukon City Park Jaycee Shelter and July 14 at Mt. Hosmer Park in Lansing.
Character Counts at Camp TRRFCC: Youth in grades Second-Fifth will work with a team to change the rules of their favorite games and complete projects that impress and inspire. Camp TRRFCC is offered from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. July 16 at the Waukon City Park Jaycee Shelter.
Master Chef: Want to learn to become a great chef? Youth will learn the basics of cooking and how to create their own recipes. Master Chef is for youth in grades Fourth-Sixth.  The camp is offered from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. July 22 at the 4-H Foodstand in Waukon, July 26 at the New Albin Townhouse, and July 13 at the Waterville Townhouse.
Fishing for All Ages: All youth in grades Kindergarten-Sixth will have a chance to catch the big one at the annual Fishing Camp August 4 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Harpers Ferry Landing. Experienced adult volunteers will take the students fishing on a boat on the Mississippi River with basic equipment and tackle.
