Men's Ecumenical Lenten Supper set for April 17

The Men's Ecumenical Lenten Supper will be held Sunday, April 17 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Waukon. All men in the community are invited to attend. A presentation by Waukon High School Principal Dan Diercks will take place at 7 p.m. A meal with a free-will offering will follow.
Diercks grew up in the north central Iowa community of Rockwell, the third of four children. He went to Iowa State University to earn his degree in secondary education. He taught Industrial Technology “shop” and coached at Nora Springs-Rock Falls Community School for 18 years prior to earning his MA in Educational Administration from Iowa State. He served as high school principal at North Iowa Community School District for four years.
Diercks joined Allamakee Community School District in 2007 as the Waukon High School principal. He felt blessed to be part of the transition into a new facility three years ago. He believes his exceptional high school staff is the main reason that students have been very successful at Waukon. Diercks has a passion for being a life-long learner and strives to practice the high standards he has set for himself and others.
Diercks' best friend, Susie, his wife of 26 years, is the Marketing Director for Good Samaritan Society. The two are blessed with two children. Brittany, a junior at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, is studying to be a junior high/upper elementary math and science teacher. Their son, Trevor, a senior at Waukon High School, plans to go to Northwestern in St. Paul, MN to pursue a degree in biochemistry and play basketball.
Principal Diercks' interests are competitive sports, watching action-packed movies, hunting and fishing with family, exploring unique foods, and living out his faith on a day-by-day basis.
