Mosaic expands services in the state of Iowa

Mosaic, based in Omaha, NE, has announced the expansion of services for people with intellectual disabilities in Iowa. The national non-profit organization will purchase the assets of Krysilis, a provider of services for nearly 200 people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the communities of Forest City and Nevada, as well as Wright County in Iowa.
April 1 of this year the three service areas will remain as one agency and be known as Mosaic in North Central Iowa. Mosaic currently provides services in Des Moines, western Iowa (Logan, Denison and Council Bluffs), south central Iowa (Osceola and Chariton), and Waukon. Mosaic also operates Evergreen, a senior living residence in Osage.
Krysilis has provided services in north central Iowa for over 40 years. The organization received a three-year accreditation from CARF (Commission on Accreditation for Rehabilitation Facilities), its highest level of accreditation in 2011. “Krysilis, has a solid track record of quality services to people and a philosophy of service that aligns well with Mosaic’s mission and values,” said Linda Timmons, Mosaic president and chief executive officer. “This is a great day in Mosaic’s 99-year history of serving people.”
Brent Aberg will serve as executive director of the North Central Iowa agency. Aberg said being part of a larger organization makes it possible to access resources with skilled expertise from other parts of the country, including expanded training and professional development for staff. “Instead of focusing on day-to-day issues, we can begin to look forward more,” he said.
Mosaic serves people with intellectual disabilities through supports which are tailored to the individual’s needs and desires. These services are provided in collaboration with local, state, national and international partners in 10 states and six countries. Mosaic is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization.
