"Northeast Iowa Get Your Rear In Gear" 5K Run/Walk to be held October 1 in Waukon

The second annual “Get Your Rear in Gear” 5K Run and Walk will be held locally Saturday, October 1 and begin at St. Patrick Catholic School, which is located at 106 Second Street SW in Waukon. Pre-registration for the event through September 27 can be accomplished by filling out the registration form in this week's print edition of The Standard and sending it, along with the $20 pre-registration fee for adults, $12 for children 12 and under, to the address indicated on the form. The registration fee after September 27 and during the day of the event will increase to $25 for adults, $15 for children.
Registration the day of the event opens at 7 a.m., with the 5K timed run beginning at 9 a.m. and the 5K walk getting its start at 9:05 a.m.
The event will highlight the importance of screening for colon cancer, encouraging the public to take action and talk to their doctor about screening. The race serves as an important place to gather and celebrate colon cancer survivors, remember those lost to this disease and honor those who are still battling.
