Plans being made for Sweet Corn Days and Heritage Parade

Plans are being made for Waukon's hosting of its annual Sweet Corn Days celebration in its expanded two-day celebration that begins Monday, August 2 and will carry over to Thursday, August 5.
This year's celebration will once again feature a Heritage Parade that will travel the streets of Waukon that first evening, Monday, August 2, beginning at 7 p.m. Anyone wishing to submit an entry is welcome to show up at the Allamakee County Fairgrounds no later than 6:45 p.m. to line up for the parade. Entries are requested to be tractors, automobiles, trucks, motorcycles or other vehicles from 1985 or earlier, keeping in line with the parade's heritage theme.
The parade route will begin from the Allamakee County Fairgrounds, traveling south down Allamakee Street to the four-way stoplight intersection with Main Street. A right turn on to West Main Street will take the parade entries up to the intersection with Second Street (Post Office location), where the entries will then take a left on to Second Street SW for a block and then turn east on to First Avenue SW to make their way to the following parking lot locations for further display for the public. Tractors will make their way to the St. Patrick School/Church parking lot, while automobiles and other vehicles will be on display at the Waukon State Bank parking lot.
The Sweet Corn Day celebration will continue Thursday, August 5 with a continued variety of events in downtown Waukon. Further details of that event will be forthcoming.
