Public invited to take part in Food Drive and "Breakfast at the Fair"

Several activities at this week's Allamakee County Fair are taking place to benefit area organizations in addition to offering fair-goers other options to further enjoy taking part in the annual county fair event.

BREAKFAST AT THE FAIR
For the fourth year, the Allamakee County Fair Board has arranged for breakfast to be served on the fairgrounds three mornings during the fair. Non-profit groups serving breakfast at this year’s fair include the Kee High School FFA Chapter Thursday, July 18, Waukon Preschool Friday, July 19 and the Waukon Trails Committee Saturday, July 20.
A varied full breakfast menu will be served each of these mornings for $6. Ala carte items and beverages will be available at an additional cost. Serving will take place from 7-9:30 a.m. in the newly renovated Appreciation Building (located directly behind the Fair Board Office).
Proceeds from the breakfast for the Kee FFA Chapter will be used to cover the cost for students to attend the National FFA Convention to be held in Louisville, KY in late October. Waukon Preschool will use its proceeds for operational costs to run the preschool. The Waukon Trails Committee has designated proceeds from the breakfast and a bike raffle to repair the flood-damaged trails in the Waukon City Park.

COUNTY COUNCIL FOOD DRIVE
The Allamakee County 4-H County Council is sponsoring a non-perishable Food Drive during the Allamakee County Fair to benefit the Allamakee County Food Shelf. The Council is encouraging all 4-H members and the community to participate by donating these much-needed items. Monetary donations will be accepted during the fair as well.
There will be  a special community service booth in the 4-H Exhibit Building to collect the donations during the fair. Donations are welcome anytime throughout the fair, July 17-21. For further information or questions contact the Allamakee County Extension Office at 563-568-6345.
