Random drug search conducted at high school, junior high in Waukon

Tuesday, February 15, police dogs supported by the Postville Police Department and Clayton County Sheriff’s Department, along with the Waukon Police Department, searched the Waukon Junior High/High School building for drugs and drug paraphernalia.
The random search lasted about one hour and resulted in two students found in possession of tobacco and one student in possession of drug paraphernalia. All incidents were referred to the Waukon Police Department for further investigation.
“Our priority is to make sure we have a safe, healthy environment so that students can learn," commented Allamakee Community School District Superintendent Dave Herold. "Random drills help to maintain this learning environment. As always, the possession of drugs or drug paraphernalia on school property is illegal and those individuals who violate this policy will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.”
