Road construction near VMH will begin soon

In the very near future, the City of Waukon will begin resurfacing the streets pictured above which travel right in front of the main entrances of both Veterans Memorial Hospital and the Gundersen Lutheran – Waukon Clinic. The first stage of the project is to fix the storm sewer intakes and other repair work. The road will be open to one-way traffic only during this stage of the project. It is asked that anyone visiting the hospital or who has a clinic appointment pay special attention to the signage directing the one-way traffic around the facility. This resurfacing project, from start to finish, is expected to take two months. At least one-lane traffic along the hospital facility should be maintained nearly every day. The road should only be closed a couple of days in August as the blacktop is being applied.
Veterans Memorial Hospital and Gundersen Lutheran will continue to send traffic updates to the local newspapers as changes occur, as well as inform KNEI, the local radio station, of any updates. Those who may have concerns about visiting the hospital are invited to call the main entrance receptionist at 563-568-3411. Also, the street along the Emergency Entrance at the west end of the hospital will always remain open and available to emergency patients. For any questions, feel free to call Veterans Memorial Hospital at 563-568-3411 or the Gundersen Lutheran – Waukon Clinic at 563-568-3000.
