Robey Memorial Library submits Vision Iowa grant application for expansion

Volunteers working on the Robey Memorial Library Expansion Project and Capital Campaign recently submitted a Vision Iowa Community Attraction and Tourism (CAT) Grant application. Project volunteers believe a CAT Grant can provide the final funding needed for the library expansion project.
“We hope to have a decision on our CAT grant within the next few months,” said Robey Memorial Library Director Rick Meyer. "December 12, some of our fundraising and project volunteers will travel to Des Moines to make our presentation before the Vision Iowa CAT Board and request grant funding for our library project. We are not sure when the CAT Board will make its decision on our grant application, but we do understand the more fundraising success we can have prior to that December date, the more likely they will be to make their decision in a timely manner. So, anyone who hasn’t made their gift to this community and rural project, we would ask you to do that now, please,” Meyer said.
The Robey Memorial Library Project fundraising campaign will finance the costs to increase the library square footage by about 6,000 square feet. “This expansion will basically double the size of our library,” said Meyer. “Library use has grown over the past few years and a larger library will permit our staff and volunteers to offer more programming and accommodate the increase in library patrons.”
Meyer said that approximately 200 people and businesses have contributed to the library expansion project thus far, but more gifts are needed to help secure the grant. Those gifts can be made by stopping by the library, by calling Meyer at 563-568-4424, or by filling out and mailing the form in this week's print edition of The Standard.
