Seeking contestants for 2010 Allamakee County Fair Queen competition

The Allamakee County Fair Board is seeking applicants for the 2010 Allamakee County Fair Queen contest, with this year's fair running July 7-11.
The contest will run similarly to that of the Iowa State Fair Queen Contest. Each girl will dress appropriately and be involved at various events sponsored by the Fair Board.
There will be one formal interview conducted by judges. This is where the majority of the judging will take place. The winner will be announced Wednesday night, July 7 at the grandstand, during the intermission of the grandstand performance. The winner will receive her Fair Queen Crown at this event, and the runner-up winner will be named Allamakee County Fair Princess. All candidates will be part of the Allamakee County Fair Royalty Team that will preside over the remaining events at the fair.
Anyone interested in competing for Fair Queen should detach the entry form accompanying this article and send it to the address listed at the bottom of the form by June 20. The first 10 individuals to return their entry forms will be candidates this year. A Fair Board member will contact each contestant to offer more information.
When signing the completed form in the print edition of The Standard, each contestant agrees to the following rules:
(1) Each contestant must be between the ages of 16 and 21 as of August 2010, and must be a resident of Allamakee County or attend school in Allamakee County.
(2) Each contestant must be an active member of at least one service organization (i.e. 4-H, FFA, church group, Girl Scouts, FBLA, etc.)
(3) Each contestant must be able to represent Allamakee County at the 2010 Iowa State Fair, August 12-22.
Each contestant competing for Allamakee County Fair Queen this year will have her picture and biography printed in the newspaper prior to the 2010 Allamakee County Fair.
