Tom Rask announces his candidacy for Allamakee County Board of Supervisors

Tom Rask of Waukon has formally announced his candidacy for the Allamakee County Board Supervisors. Two of the three Board seats will be up for election this fall, with the terms of current Board members Kathy Campbell and Lennie Burke expiring at the end of this year.
Rask graduated from Caledonia High School (MN) in 1989. During high school, he was involved with the Student Council, various sports, and FFA. After graduating high school, he was on active duty in the U.S. Army and served overseas during Operation Desert Storm/Desert Shield and is a current VFW member in Waukon. He contributed as a Track Mechanic while in The Service and was subsequently active in the National Guard based out of LaCrosse, WI.
Rask has been an Allamakee County resident since September of 1994 and was an employee of Northern Engraving until the plant closed in August of 2008. At Northern Engraving, he was a Union representative and held positions in QC and Inspection.  He is currently working at the Allamakee County Courthouse as a Custodian and has been in this position since January of 2009. He is also a cleaning service contractor.
While residing in Allamakee County, he has been active in several athletic booster clubs, Project Prom, and Keep the W Burning, all through the Allamakee Community School District. He has donated both time and money to these initiatives as he is single with no children of his own.
Rask was also in the Waukon Jaycees until the organization disbanded. While involved with the Jaycees he participated in organizing the Haunted House and other fund-raising events. He is a member of Wilmington Lutheran Church in Spring Grove, MN but attends services at St. John’s Lutheran in Waukon.
Rask says he believes Allamakee County has a lot to offer businesses and has a lot of tourism potential. He would like to see Allamakee County return to the prosperity he saw when he first moved here. He also believes retaining the jobs which do already exist is critical as well. Running as a representative of the Democratic party, Rask's goal is to represent Allamakee County residents and help provide what they need to continue to enjoy everything this area has to offer.
