Volunteers needed for Rain Garden planting May 21 at Waukon City Park

The City of Waukon and the Allamakee County Soil and Water Conservation District are working together to install a rain garden in the Waukon City Park. Anyone who likes to garden and would like to learn more about rain gardens is invited to attend a planting session Saturday, May 21 at 8 a.m. at the Thompson Shelter (the shelter on the east side of the middle road in the park).
Plans have been made to plant prairie grass and flower plugs, which are small, container-grown plants. Participants are not required to bring gardening tools, but are welcome to if they would like to. It is hoped to have planting done by noon. The rain date will be the following Saturday, May 28.
Those who plan on helping or who would like to learn more about rain gardens are asked to notify Sara Berges at sara.berges@ia.nacdnet.net or at 563-568-2246, ext. 113.
