Waukon Community Garden plots available

The calendar says its spring and it is time to start planning the garden. Applications are now being taken for the 2010 Waukon Community Garden.
The garden will again be located off Second Street NW in Waukon at the Quillin/Ramsey property and provided by Allamakee New Beginning in conjunction with the Allamakee County ISU Extension Office. Last year’s garden was a huge success and the overall size has been increased to meet the needs of more Waukon residents who desire to raise healthy food for their families. Plots will be tilled before the season. The fertility has been tested and corrected. Water is available on-site.
The plots will be the same size as last year, 10'x10' for $10, or 10'x20' for $20. The committee will be providing sweet corn and creeping plants like zucchini, cucumbers and squash for all participants to enjoy.
Reserve a plot now and enjoy fresh produce this summer. Applications are available at the Allamakee County Extension Office at 21 Allamakee Street or by calling 563-568-6345. The application deadline is April 15. Plots will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.
