Waukon Corn Days in full swing this week

This year’s Waukon Corn Days celebration is taking place this week, culminating in a Saturday, August 4 performance of area favorite, El Caminos. Prior to that climactic event, a variety of other events have been and currently are taking place for anyone and everyone to enjoy.

CORN HUSKERS NEEDED
The Waukon Chamber of Commerce is seeking volunteers to help husk corn Wednesday, August 1, beginning at 3 p.m., at the Adam and Julie Quandahl farm, 1510 West Ridge Road, rural Waukon. Call Waukon Chamber of Commerce Director Stephanie Dugan at 563-568-4110 for more information.

PARK IT!
The third annual “Park It” event will also take place Wednesday, August 1, beginning at 6 p.m., in the Waukon City Park with a wide variety of activities for all to enjoy. BUSY SWEET CORN DAY
The Waukon Chamber of Commerce will serve sweet corn and pork loin sandwiches in the Waukon State Bank parking lot Thursday, August 2 from 4:30-8 p.m. for $4. Inflatable rides will be set up for kids from 4:30-8 p.m. and wristbands will be available for purchase for $5. Rain location will be at the shown barn on the Allamakee County Fairgrounds.
A Fine Arts & Crafts Show will be held in Waukon State Bank’s small parking lot from 1-8 p.m. Thursday, and Allamakee Flyers Inc. will be giving 15-minute airplane rides from 1-7 p.m. Airborne Skydiving will also be offering tandem jumps.

5K CARDIAC CLASSIC
Veterans Memorial Hospital will also host its annual 5K Cardiac Classic Run/Walk Thursday, August 2 as well. Registration begins at 5 p.m., with the run/walk beginning at 6 p.m. Registration forms are available at Veterans Memorial Hospital and the Waukon Chamber of Commerce office.

EL CAMINOS ON STAGE
Saturday, August 4, the El Caminos will be rocking downtown Waukon with a performance from 7-11 p.m. in the Waukon State Bank parking lot. Admission is $5 and attendees must be age 21 or older to enter.
The Allamakee County Cattlemen will also be serving ribeye sandwiches, and pop and adult beverages will be available for purchase. Proceeds from the Saturday evening El Caminos’ performance will go toward the improvement of downtown Waukon.
