Waukon Lions Club donates to schools' art, milk programs as part of continued effort of its service to the community

Waukon Lion’s Club President Peggy Iles recently presented funds to area schools in support of their art and milk programs. A check was recently donated to East and West Elementary Schools Principal Ann Hart to use for the afternoon milk program for the students in the lower grades.
There are many students who have been unable to get milk during the afternoon. This is the second year the Lions have helped with funds so all children who want to receive a carton of milk in the afternoon will be able to do so.
Iles also presented a check to elementary art teacher Carlyn Wacker to be used for supplies she needs for her students at East, West and Waterville Elementary schools, and to Lori Ross, art teacher at St. Patrick School in Waukon, for art supplies at that school.
Waukon Lions Club is a service organization committed to serving the community in many ways. The Lions Club sponsors the Senior Honors Banquet each spring, sponsors children to go to diabetes camp, conducts vision screenings for Kindergarten Roundup and others, pays for eye exams and glasses for those unable to pay for these items, donates to Dollars for Scholars, and donates time and funds to many community projects.

At this time, the Lions Club is conducting sales of cookies, pies, soups, and cheesecakes to raise funds to help the club’s  projects in the local community. To place an order, contact any Lions Club member by November 8. The delivery date for orders will be November 15 at the Farmers and Merchants Savings Bank Community Room in Waukon.
The Lions Club motto is “We serve.” Area residents are asked to consider themselves a partner with the Lions Club by helping to fund their many projects by purchasing from the items listed above for the busy holiday season ahead.
The Lions Club appreciates the support of the community, acknowledging that without that support, the Club would not be able to serve the community as it does.
