Waukon State Bank donates to Allamakee County Relief Office and Allamakee County Food Shelf in time for the upcoming holiday season

Waukon State Bank made a recent donation to both the Allamakee County Relief Office and the Allamakee County Food Shelf to help with increased needs at both facilities during the upcoming holiday season.
Jim Sweeney of Waukon State Bank presented a check for $250 to Linda Kruse of the Allamakee County Relief Office for the holiday season.  The money will be used toward gifts for the 160 children on the Relief Office Christmas list.
Kruse states, “It is very important for the less fortunate children to have a Christmas like everyone else.” Toys are needed for children from newborn age to 17 years old. Those who would also like to contribute may drop off a new, unwrapped toy or monetary donation to the Relief Office by December 15. There is also a tree at Pamida with families listed who can be adopted during the holiday season.

Pat Friar of Waukon State Bank presented a check for $250 to Alaine Meier of the Allamakee County Food Shelf.  The money will be used for food during the holiday season. In November, the Allamakee County Food Shelf distributed five-and-a-half tons of food, which included 135 special Thanksgiving sacks. The facility is now gearing up for the Christmas food donations, which will be given out on December 23.
The Allamakee County Food Shelf receives its food from the Northeast Iowa Food Bank, which serves 16 counties. The local food shelf is located at 1125 West Main Street, Lot 39 and is open every Thursday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Those who would like to make a donation may contact Alaine Meier at 563-568-4088.  The Allamakee County Food Shelf is a non-profit organization and all donations are tax deductible.
