Waukon State Bank makes $75,000 commitment to Robey Memorial Library expansion project

Waukon State Bank continued to show its support of Robey Memorial Library in Waukon and the community it serves with a recent pledge of $75,000 to the library's expansion project capital campaign. Jim Sweeney, Gail Prestemon, Sharon Larson and Pat Friar represented the bank in presenting a $75,000 check to the library campaign's co-chairs, Dr. Ken Olson and Will Ament.
With the Waukon State Bank donation, the total funds raised for the library project are now in excess of $1 million. With a project goal of $1.4 million, the project is well on schedule for potential groundbreaking in the fall of 2012.
Waukon State Bank President Jim Sweeney stated, “Waukon State Bank is very happy to support the library project. The library serves thousands of people in Waukon and the surrounding area.  Robey Memorial Library had over 34,000 visits from local residents in 2011 with over 48,000 items borrowed. This makes the library project very vital to our community.”
Waukon State Bank has been a big supporter of Robey Memorial Library for many years. Since Robey Memorial Library was established, Waukon State Bank has been donating books to the library as a memorial to bank customers. In the last ten years, the bank has donated over $8,000 for books to honor the memory of bank customers.
Waukon State Bank appreciates the value Robey Memorial Library provides to the local community. Bank staff members Gail Prestemon and Sharon Larson have been active volunteers, along with about 25 others working on the library's capital campaign.
